As the presenting partner of the 2026 Disc Golf European Open – held for the first time outside Finland – Discmania are proud to introduce a Prototype run of an all new Originals line mould: The Swirl S-Line DD4. This is the very first release ever for this mould – one that many of their fans & team players have wanted to see for years.
DD4: Overstability combined with distance for average arms.
Now, if you’re looking for the first disc to start playing disc golf with, we suggest you look elsewhere. The DD4 offers a formidable presence – it’s the fastest disc in Discmania’s distance driver line up and packs enough overstability for most to call it a certified meat hook.
Simply put, if you are a player with lower arm speed, this is mainly a tool for utility. And a great one at that, as with the 13-speed rating, you’ll able to do so much more with the overstability of this disc than with slower utility drivers like the Splice, Tilt or even the FD3. The speed allows the DD4 to go far, while the overstability offers reliability. The DD4 is a Great choice for sidearms & overhead shots as well.
Max distance for the big arms
If you do have the power to consistently throw well past 100m, this disc will start to show you a whole new side to itself. The flight numbers for the DD4 mould might eventually landed at 13 | 5 | 0 | 3, but this is a Prototype run, and as such, these are actually touch straighter than what those numbers might suggest. Especially if you have the arm speed to go past 140m, you might very well be able to get a bit of turn of flip up out of this run of the DD4.
Simply put, this proto run came out a touch straighter than Discmania expected. For some, this might be great news, as a 13-speed disc with true 0 turn & 3 fade can easily be a bit too much of a disc to handle. Essentially this opens up the Proto DD4 as a viable option for a wider field of players while also offering some massive distance potential for the biggest of arms.
Pick up yours & support Europe’s flagship event
The sales of this product directly benefit the 2026 European Open held in Tallinn, Estonia in late June. The artwork pays homage to European Open’s long-running emblematic animal, the Lion, paired with design picked by the defending European Open champion, Team Discmania’s Gannon Buhr. The disc is moulded in Discmania’s durable and grippy Swirl S-line material. As far as the swirls go, the colour transitions on most of the discs tend to be fairly subtle.
As with all prototype runs, these too come in limited supply – If you’d like to try the newest member of our Originals distance driver family and experience a somewhat more crowd-friendly iteration of the DD4 than what future releases will likely be, pick up yours today!
